anybody seen the commercial about the scientists that want to get on mars?
#59
Anyone want to jump in and save him? No? Alright then.
Quote:maybe in the next couple hundred years it's a practical thought but we shouldn't be talking about it on television to people who will never see it happen.
What about history? We aren't going to see that happen, but they tell us about it enough. It's called not being an ignorant fool.
Quote:also there may indeed be other habitable planets out there but unless we can go about the speed of light then we won't be able to get there.
Space shuttles stay in space for years at a time sometimes. Yes, there may be others out there, but that isn't the point; we're talking about Mars, which may soon become inhabitable with a little help.
Quote:also an artificial planet is not as good as the real thing. it will take way too long for anything like what you guys are talking about.
Speculation. Read some science papers before you try and act smart.
Quote: by which time the human race is most likely going to be extinguished.
Currently the earth is approximately...what, five billion years old, and humans have been around for approximately 250,000 to 400,000 years. That's when the first truthful human (Homo Sapiens, sapiens meaning intelligent) traversed the earth.
Quote:also if we could go the speed of light we could go back in time eventually. then we could change history.
You live in a fairy-tale.
Quote:unless we make a huge scientific discovery that will increase speed or make there be a very large amount of oxygen in an oxygen tank we can't get there. that is why I think they are IDIOTS.
I'll refer to my earlier post. Either get the degrees and doctorates these scientists have, or shut your trap, kay? You have no right to call them idiots, they who are able to decipher particle physics and what have you, when you most likely do not even know rudimentary science. Nor English, it seems.
Quote:trust me if we can't even make cars fly there is no way we are getting to mars any time soon.
Flying cars have, along with teleporters, been proved exceedingly pointless. A flying car would require a form of jet engine and a VTOL system, which, as well as being extremely expensive, also use a LOT of fuel. This is why you don't see fighter pilots flying Ford Escorts. Again, learn some physics and chemistry before you act like you know something.
Quote:also if mars is cold enough to have ice caps it's probably too cold to support human life anyways.
Lmfao, geography isn't your strong point either, I see. What do you suppose those white things in the sea are, whale sperm? It's ice, ice caps.
Quote:we'd also have to melt the caps in order to have enough water to survive. that would be in the hope that there was fresh water instead of salt water.
You really are stupid. it's very easy to distill salt water. And where the hell do you get the idea it's salt water from anyway?
Quote:that is why I think they are idiots.
And this is why again and again, I find you to be an idiot, whom at the moment from my view, has failed English, rudimentary science, including physics, chemistry, and biology, and geography. As I stated, educate yourself before you pass off your BS to other people.
Quote:unless we can get plant life to flourish there is no way to survive. unless we sent a space shuttle up tehre every (period of time) which could be bad if whatever we sent it in crashed. even if we could send in water and food it would still be hard to have a colony that would have a really good chance of supporting life.
There has been plant life found on Mars, so the planet itself is capable of sustaining life. Also, your defeatist attitude makes it seem like you're afraid to catch a bus in case it crashes.

Edit: Fixed some spelling and quotes because they didn't show at all...:S
