It really depends on your defense and ATP. Since gilchichs in the mines fall down less and have stronger arm lasers, they can completely trash a hunter without alot of HP or DEF. And unless you have an incredibly strong sword or mechguns with good HIT % it will be extremely difficult.
My suggestion would be to play Ult. Forest or Caves for a few more levels, and if you don't already have rare armor (like ones with lvl.100+ requirements) then find which creatures drop you some good armor and hunt them. And since you're REDRIA that shouldn't be a problem. After getting decent equipment, the mines will actually be possible.
