No, on or offline status has nothing to do with it.

You get B-Rank for completing Challenge mode.
You get A-Rank for completing Challenge mode within 13 hours for Episode 1, 11 hours for Episode 2.
You get S-Rank for completing Challenge mode within 7 hours, 5 hours for Episode 2.

If you get S-Rank the first try, then redo any stage twice to get A and B rank prizes.
