Chapter5: The First Rank
Grave appeared in a remote part of Ragol where no living being had been from Pioneer2. âThat went well.â He though. This was a hidden area in the Ruins that had yet to be discovered by the Hunters of Pioneer2. The only thing that had been there were a few crates from the original landing of Pioneer1s crew. Grave started to look around, no door, no windows. They only way out was what looked liked a hologram over a hole in the wall. Apparently no one wanted these crates to be found. He started to open one of the crates but was unable to, the latches had rusted closed. He turned to go out the hologram door when he heard what he thought was a horse. He turned to look but nothing was there. âWhat are you doing here little Caster? You are not to be here.â Came voice from no were followed by a horse winy. Grave looked around still not seeing anything.
âWhoâs there he said?â He yelled.
âI am the guardian of these things.â
âCome out and show your face.â
Nothing happened for a minute then he heard a clopping of a horse from behind him. He turned to see an armored Shull Knight on a horse that was also of bone. A dead horse that was killed along with its rider, paring then for the after life. An impressive site, clad in black amour with red trim. The horse itself was covered in its own amour of the same kind. What was most impressive was the blade he carried. Long bladed with what looked like ancient text written on it. The hilt was like the knight amour, black with red trim. The end of the blade was curved up with a small hook on the end for catching enemies blades. It was a Killing Edge type blade, almost a lethal strike with every blow. A feared weapon, and with good reason. This was no ordinary Skull Knight the is was a Deathevn. Third line of defense for the in the Undead army when necessary. Always battle ready. âWhat are you doing here?â He asked again.
âI am here because the Flux spell brought me here.â
âThat spell has the tendency to⦠malfunction.. at inappropriate times.â
âI see, so what are doing here?â Grave asked.
âI am guarding my treasure, little Caster.â
âI thought it was the Guardians job to guard treasures not yours?â
âIt is but I like this rank better.â
âSo you were a Guardian but when down in the ranks to this?â Grave asked with a little worry in his voice when the Deathevn raised his sword.
âYes that is it. Now leave before I have to kill you.â
Grave turned to the wall âI would but I donât how to leave. The hologram is now a solid wall.â
âI see, then that means we were destined to fight, the Reaper has said so.â He said
âWhat? You mean that we have to fight? Oh this is just getting better and better,â
The Deathevn raised his Killing Edge and yelled, âGive me strength.â He lowered it to Graves height. The hoarse whinnied and came charging at him. Grave moved out of the way.
