Bleh. I can't beleive I'm wasting time cutting out the damned Guardian Colony from it's background... -_-; I'm using the highrez wallpaper so I can get a nice clean cut around all the tiny details like the antennae and such. going around with the polygon-lasso tool. *rolling eyes*

I gotta keep it simple though. if I cram too much in, it's just going to look an ugly mess. I wanted to put all the planets, a central scene to the city, and a shot of the "dungeon" areas all there but... that's 12 images. and I don't know enough about the cities to even know what areas are in the screenshots I see, so maybe a picture of the item shop wouldn't be most appropriate for the beast planet. ... or WOULD it?

edit: well, done cutting out Guardian Colony. Looks nice. and found a mid-range-resolution image to patch up that hole that the logo made on the high-res wallpaper version.
Even with my new idea, it looks really crowded and messy. I don't even know if a wallpaper colage is going to be nice enough compared to the other entries. -_-; running out of time...

Meh, even my wallpaper isn't working out. T_T;

BTW, why does the auto-updating thing at the top have the contest ending midnight EST (GMT -5) insted of GMT? I tried changing my timezone settings but it had no effect. Maybe it's based on my system clock or something crazy like that... :S right now it says I have just under 12 hours. if it's lying, then I only have 7 hours. :>

Small print at the top banner states it should be a GMT timer countdown, but due to the countdown running from the time that users computers clocks are set at, it's been stated the competition ends at 00:01 GMT tomorrow (I.e. in approx. 5 and a half hours!)

Heh... on one hand, I hope so. On the other hand, I want a better chance of winning. >_<; I am really curious to see the turn-out though.

Well... I handled my time very poorly, and didn't get much done. My idea just didn't work, so I made it very very simple and just did the 3 planets + satellite + logo. Actually, a LOT of work went into this when added up. 1/3rd manually cutting the edges of the Guardian Colony, 1/3rd spending time rearranging layers until I realized I couldn't fit in character artwork on top. 1/3rd copying, cutting, and rotating the starry planet backgrounds to fill in all the empty spaces. T_T; Oh, I also copied the odd loops around that one planet since they were chopped off at each end. So many tiny details that just stick out and look horrible if you don't attend to them.
I should release the Guardian Colony image separate so other people can use it. had to delete all the tiny spaceships around the base because it's just too much work to cut them out of the gradiant light of the planet in the background. the ones that were in front of the colony stayed obviously.

With my remaining time, I'll see what else I can manage. See if I can pull out my previous idea, or the impossible new idea, or a quick drawing. *sigh* I'm totally gonna pig out and play video games and read comics for the rest of the day. (even though I dicked around reading webcomics for most of my time today instead of being hard at work)
