Somehow..that logic doesn't make sense to me....

But it is right.

So anyway...
What was this thread about?

To throw something random in, I played my DC for maybe 6 - 9 hours every day for two years, and had no problems whatsoever. Course it's broken now, but that's because the TV fell on it...

well you had a good luck indeed, my dc overheated 2 times, now it will take many years to that happen again.

Not often does an older generation system overheat, unless you have the fan covered by something.

So the dream cast, if yours works, if you take good care of it nothing will go wrong with it, unless you drop a T.V onm it of course

the fan does not matter, a very common problem is overheat, since the transformator (convert 220v to 12v) heats alot, it makes the plastic inside to expand, this causes to have bad conection and results in a restet at radom, it may take 1 year or 2 or even 3 for this to happen.
about the lens and gd-rom reader........the only problem is using copied games (cd-rom)

...........do you know what a fan is for?
if not, then go read a book.
If you cover your fan vent up, it will over heat...
If you don't....it wont.
unless your sitting it next to a heater or soemthing stupid.

The plastic expanding has nothing to do with anything at all, otherwise every system would over heat and do that, and they don't.

And time is not a factor either, except the electronic parts in them would not function as well, not because of the plastic or whatever....

The lens' are fine if you are careful as I have said before, and not scratch them or anything of the sort.. mine works just fine, and I have had mine for over 5 years and it doesn't do anything wrong, and mine stays on overnight a lot.

Copied games rarely work on systems, and that will most likely screw something up, which is probably why they say not to copy games and use them....

But as we all know, intelligence is far from the grasp of the majority.... so it continues to happen

using cd roms tires the lens making the gd-rom reader worthless when it comes to read original gd-rom game disks, i know because it is happening to me.
about the fan, it does not matter, if you block the fan it will sure overheat, if not then it is a slow process until the dreamcast makes a bad connection

the red circles shows were the dreamcast take it's power, if theres a bad connection due to plastic expansion then.....it will reset

Almost every console will gain a disc reading problem of some kind after a period of years has passed. The simple truth is that some machinery lasts a very long time, but no mechanical object can last forever. Bits tire, things wear out and need replacing. If you ever buy something feeling you'll never replace it you've already been suckered.

Unless, you leave the dreamcast on for a super long period of time, then the plastic will cool down, before expanding and not do anything, hence what was included, when saying "Take care of it"

Obviously this is not a huge problem, because not everyone was complaining.

Maybe it is just you. Treat your equipment better, and it may not break, Anti is right, maybe your dreamcast restarting is based on tired equipment, and your trying to make yourself sound intelligent by saying all that bull crap, but it doesn't matter, morale of the story, the dreamcasts can no longer be fixed, so go get the plastic expanded now before they stop fixing them.

Or take better care of your equipment..

did you read what i said?
READ NOW, it only happens after a certain period of time, both the lens problem and the reseting problem......the more you play the faster this will happen.....
you should read the posts god-ix
