Scott, that's just your opinion, so don't get too aggresive please.
Also, you said: "As for editing Yamaha sounds, it's impossible as they use MegaVoice technology, which is encrypted into the device, and only exists on 2 Yamaha product, you're probably just thinking of SG Synth stuff you got on your tack, products have come a long way since the stone age."
Don't forget I'm talking about MY guitar; which has a NoiseGate and other various modifiers connected with it; I think I'd know my own setup better.
Ok, I got some information about the guitar I'm purchasing soon from my friend. Its a Yamaha Pacifica 112 (or some number like that), and it is silver with a black scratch board.
I have a picture, but it was huge...so I did a crappy job of resizing it...its an attachment.
So...see what you think. Im getting that, an amp, some Peavey leads, a hard case and plectrums, and strings...for £150. To buy new is £315+...so I think its a good idea.
Scott Bull Wrote:And as for Yamaha sounding naff, I ain't talking about the little £200 quidjobs that you're mate without a degree in music from Guild Hall London has got, I'm talking about industry flag-ship class mo-fo keyboards costing £3,500,
(I think this comment was directed at me, so...) Exactly. He's a beginner guitarist. Which is why he hasn't got a really expensive guitar. And he doesnt play keyboard, so he isnt interested in a £3,500 one.
Scott what bands are you referring to as on the charts? Rappers? I agree that they're in it for the money. I'm talking about actual music though like rock and metal. Bands like Shinedown, Atreyu, Green Day, Nirvana, Foo Fighters. Bands I've read several biographies on each. Tons of videos and interviews I have on tape.
Billie Joe Armstrong (Singer and guitarist for green day) was singing since he was 4 and even got a record deal because people loved his voice. Now I certainly didn't know what money was when I was 4 except that you give it to people to buy goods and services. (Not even in that professional of a term) He was never rich, music was what he wanted to do with his life. Bands inspired him as he inspired me. Him and Mike Dirnt (Bass for green day) started their first band called "Sweet Children" when they were 12. They got a deal from lookout records when they were 15 and 6 years later met up with Tre Cool (Drummer) and were signed only a few months later and made their tour deforce album Dookie. 8 albums later they're still rolling...what's that say Scott?
I also begin to realize how you love talking about money. You think it's candy that rains out of the sky. Seemingly you have a lot of it. And those kinds of people are the ones who would only do it for more money because they can never be too rich. Music is just a toy game to them.
You misinterpreted something though. Bands do want to be on the charts and they want to be famous and sure why not some bucks, but every musician has the same reason no matter who they are or what kind of music they make/write.

Well, enough of who's legit and whose a poser *coughscottcough*.
Anyway, Ive decided to look into playing analog keyboards.
So, I'm looking around the store, and I find this sweet little digital that looks like something straight outta the 80's. I look on the tag.
"Replica of the 1980-something..."
Oh, that explains it.
Anyway, I'm now getting myself a Gforce impOSCar for a measly $100. Yeah, it doesn't sound like much, but it's just something to start me out, ya?
Besides, Moogs have gotten really expensve! the cheapest one I could find was like $500, or something!
Heh. Anyway, that's my rant.

Your fingers are too soft? just because your "fingers are too soft" doesn't mean you should look for another instrument if you wanna start guitar always go for acoustic first because you'll be able to hear ALL of your mistakes and therefore not generate bad habits, the distortion on an electric guitar hides your mistakes and thats just for noobs you make mistakes--try to correct them if "your fingers are too soft" just keep playing anyway because your fingers will get "harder"
*sorry for havin a go at an old post i haven't been online for about 3 months but things like that infuriate me*
Ivan I agree with what you're saying partially. To an extant most bands are not in it for the money. But there are those who have lost sight of the dream and corrupted to change their music for money (Blink 182 at their very end). Funny how going for the money seems to end up in a band splitting? I know a local band in my town who was offered a record deal and turned it down because they couldn't keep one of the members AND had to change their style a bit.
Now there can also be a mix. They Might Be Giants, take for example, started out doing some pretty nice music but later found out that they could make money in childrens music (like little kids) so they switched to doing that, leaving all of their fans in the dust, just so they could get money. But they also SAY they did it because they love making music and they think little kids gain their taste of music small. To me it sounds like they still make the music because they love it but they lost every single fan they once had when they made the switch just to make more money.

Maybe so, but sunshine and rainbows don't pay the bills and get you stuff like a BMW Z4 and TVR T350, also, my music equipment don't grow on trees, it costs money, and unlike those £200 tack jobs you see in Argos, mine cost a lot more, £3,500 keyboards don't fall into my outstreatched hands, after deductions of tax, expenses, paying my employees and buying new equipment as well as transportation, I probably don't get much more than anyone else, a few grand a month if I'm lucky, which is usually spent on designer clothes, because if I look good, people recognise me, they want to hire me, and most importantly, I feel good about myself.
But then again, if you look like everyone else, your fans feel more of a connection to you. Like, "Hey, look, that guy looks just like I do. Maybe he really does understand me."
I mean, that's why I can relate to Black Sabbath so well. They just go up on stage in the clothes they've been wearing all day, and they just look like ordinary guys you'd see in the crowd.
Personally, I think that's something special, right there.
