What I meant was, hacking is a bad thing if you make it so you always win. Where's the fun in making yourself level 200 and killing everything in one hit? How boring!
I hack PSO like I used to hack Pokemon years ago, lol... I remember I made a Pikachu that was ice/water type and had glitchy nameless attacks. But I only used AR once I'd completed the game and had level 100s. If I'd made myself invincible the first time I started the game, I don't think I would have played for long. It's only sensible to play the game first before you break out the AR.
From what I hear, the problem with hacking is these people who just make themselves level 200 first off, and then come online and have no idea how to play the game. I can't imagine how annoying that must be if you're in a game with one of those bozos...
Online hacking is a whole different deal, of course. I don't see why people shouldn't hack themselves l33t weapons and so on, and even use them online, if that's what makes them happy or breathes more life into the game once they've got their character through Ultimate, but the line is crossed when other people suffer. For instance, if you've come online to get exp from a TTF run and some idiot has a Dark Flow and 1304 mag and is killing everything in one hit... well, I'd call that abuse. Trading hacked items dishonestly to legit people and thereby making them unlegit (as well as basically stealing their own items they hunted for) is also a bad thing. And there is no excuse, none at all, for forcing your way into someone else's passworded game, or NOL, or FSOD.
As for being "part time legit"... why not? If you have a card of legit characters and a card for hacking, and ne'er the twain shall meet... I don't even do 2p between hacked and legit characters. When I want to play the game, I use my real characters, and when I just want to mess around I might stick the AR in and run around with a Sonic skin for a bit. But that's not really playing PSO, is it?
