Error 102 - Somethings Not Right
#1
Okay... this is beginning to annoy me... lemme describe my problem...

This is what I sent to Sega, but their first reply was completely useless (and no I'm not talking about the automated e-mail... that was especially useless)

I have been playing Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1 and 2 Plus for the Gamecube now for 3 or 4 weeks and everything has been running smoothly, but starting at midnight last night, I started getting constant "Error 102 - Cannot connect to DNS server. Please check your provider settings." errors everytime I tried to connect. I haven't done anything to my settings, yet this started happening and is still happening the next day. I tried doing every possible thing to my settings to get it to work, but nothing changed the problem. My settings are now back to the way they were in the beginning.

I am using a D-Link 604 wired router and I connect to the internet using a DHCP DSL server. My connection is a dynamic connection so my IP does change occasionally. I really need to know what I can do to get this error to go away, otherwise I'll have to cancel my Hunter's License before my first month is over so I don't have to start paying for nothing. Please respond as quickly as you can, I don't want to have to give up on my online GCN PSO.

Is anyone else having this problem... or is it just me? If other people are having it constantly then I may be able to just call it a server glitch and wait it out...

I have no idea what causes it, but like I told you, best to wait it out... for MOST people I talk to, it just takes a little while. Some days just seem to be "102 days" for me, days that, when I do get on, I have to explain to people why I can't switch characters. :ermm: Oh well.

It could simply have been that the server was down when you tried to connect. Try again later, see if it's still not working, and then we'll see where to go from there.

I tried to connect for a full 24 hours now, so I have tried at various times.

Well... I contacted my ISP... they knew absolutely nothing. They say nothing should've happened so I'm beginning to worry if I'll ever be able to connect again. I'll take ANY suggestions! PLEASE someone think of SOMETHING I can try! Things I've tried to far:

1. Disconnected the router for a couple of minutes and reconnected
2. Disconnected the router AND modem for a bit and reconnected
3. Disconnected the router and modem when the computers were all off
4. Putting in my information manually into PSO

I'll take ANY relevant suggestions!

Please don't double-post. Edit your original post using the edit button: [Image: edit.gif]

As for suggestions;

a) Ring Sega and ask about.
b) Wait for as much as a week before panicking, try about 2 times a day.
c) I know this sounds difficult, but erase every bit of data relating to PSO, and try again. I'd say try this after (a) and (b) have proved completely useless.

These are just my suggestions, no promises. Smile

I wouldn't continue online if I had to delete my characters... I'd move to the dark side of Blue Burst and keep my GC characters for single player fun.

By ring Sega, do you mean CALL Sega? I guess I could try that. and the only nuicense about waiting a week is that I have to make my first payment by then Tongue

Oh well... it WAS working a few times today after experimenting, but it's still VERY inconsistent compared to it ALWAYS working like in the first 3 weeks.

Oh yes, and as for the double post... sometimes I consider neccessary if there was a decent gap in time from the first post and the second so people who say the original post would see the double post as a new post and would actually look at the new information.

dont bother deleting your characters. theres something wrong with the servers. this has been happening to me every so often. it goes away after a while. only advice I can give is wait

Okay, I guess I'll wait it out. It was working in spurts today... I managed to get online when it was really important twice today so I'm statisfied for now.
