Well, the UK happily sauntered into Afghanistan and Iraq with the Americans. We went along with America into Iraq despite the lack of a UN mandate.

The Americans haven't done anything in return, mind. As Bush put it 'Don't expect any favors'.

I'd say that is a rather naive way of looking at things, no offence.

America (or more accurately, the Bush administration) is out for what it can get, it doesn't care about saving the world or helping other countries that much. Iraq, for example. You think that we went in there to save the Iraqis from Saddam Hussein and terrorism? Guess again, it was oil and political influence they were after (I did a far more detailed post about this on the official forums, go check it out there if you want).

All I see from the American government so far after the London bombings is what most countries have given us; condolences, promises to help catch the people behind it etc. - nothing special like the support we gave Bush so he could plunder oil in the Middle East after 9/11. Again, I refer you to the 'Don't expect any favors' quote from Bush - remember this is the man who once said 'You are either with us or against us' - a pretty black-and-white comment for a topic that is infinitely more complex than most people realize.

Anyway, this is getting off-topic. I've already helped degenerate a topic on the offical forums from a topic about the bombings into a topic on America and how it works. I call it quits before I do the same here.
