Well, I don't know. When it comes to the movie, the Oompa Loompas are not slaves...they were invited to work at the factory because they had Cocoa Beans there; see the movie and then you'll see.

Well everyone i know thinks its silly changing the colour of the oompa loompa's away from orange because then it does just seem like something racial is gonna get picked up by it. I mean making a remake is bad enough, but if you're gonna do it at least make it properly! Everyone knows oompa loompa's! Aparently there was one person who didnt, and happened to be producing the film! XD

so they only changed what they looked like but since they changed the name wouldnt that be agreeable to change the color or no?

The oompa loompas were awesome in the original!
And damn, I spent ages trying to find the quote from futurama but I couldn't so this is close enough - Hermes - "So, I was thinking of replacing my whole crew with Grunka Lunkas." It doesn't take a genius to work out the Grunka Lunkas are a ripoff of Oompa Loompas does it?

The original book was "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." I used to read all of Roald Daal's books when I was little. I haven't been able to see the new movie yet, but I really want to. Heard it follows closer to the book than the original did. Though I love the original ^_^ I was worried for a bit, because it's not Willy Wonka without Oompa Loompas. Their songs made the first movie *nods*
