Nintendo Revolution

read the tech demos on the controller please.........sounds awesome, especially the two handed approach to fps games and the way your movements can be tracked on screen. Go Ninty.

In regards to the Revolution controller (sic).

The advert executives are right.

GAME OVER

The thing looks awful, splitting the controller up looks uncomfortable and from a marketing point of view the casual gamers will leave it on the shelf. I can only imagine what games will be made by Nintendo, short games with Mario or Donkey Kong in. I could be wrong, this may be the worlds greatest controller, but aesthetically it is disgusting. And to think people took the mickey out of the Xbox360s lumpy grey controller and the PS3 boomerang, they should hang their heads in shame.

The Nintendo Revolution, not in shops soon, relegated to a 1/4 of the shelf space the Gamecube has now within a month of its release.

THIS piece of work indicates that Nintendo DOES need a miracle, because if they keep this up... they're quite doomed.

Traditionally nintendo has always made the best controllers for home systems.
Nintendo have pointed out that asthetically this is not the finished product so lets reserve judgement till then Tongue
.............. imagine running from enemies in metroid prime 3 whilst looking back and shooting at them......imagine a "plug-in" master sword for zelda revolution..........c'mon.Still excited by SSBM online at rev launch tho.. Tongue

Why all the pessimism? It looks amazing..!

The plug-in analogue stick seems very optional, it is most likely just for some games, most of them use only the remote. Everyone knows how to hold a remote control and press the buttons, so anyone can use it. The remote's sensor is also a quite amazing idea, I believe. You wouldn't even need a master sword plug-in, you swing the remote around as if it were the master sword, or any number of interesting new ideas.

Many of you who are being so critical seem to just be ignorant about it. The remote itself, which seems to be the main part, is not ugly at all, if you ask me, and as everyone with a tv has held a remote control, I can't see how it would even be slightly off-putting.
Hey, I can still..

I think it will be interesting to have a controller that sensors your moves, but that would pretty difficult for younger aged people that aren't able to do multiple things at once, and they would get frustrated, and move on. But I like the idea, we would have to just wait for it to come out to know exactly how good or bad it really is.

SSBM online will be great, finally I can take out the people who think they can beat me at it! muhahah....but um, yha, Nintendo hasn't come out with an uncomfortable controller yet, so I trust that it couldn't be to bad...

I'm sure Nintendo have thought about the idea and have lots of simple games designed for the whole family to enjoy. I prefer games like Resident Evil 4 and PSO which require a more substantial controller.

You are correct, Nintendo cannot compete with Sony or MS, but sadly for me I want something a bit more basic when it comes to controllers. The motion detection could be a good gimmick in certain games but you'll need a decent add on controller which just looks uncomfortable to hold due to the seperate parts attached by a cable. I do hope the connection point has a secuirty clip so if you drop a part or pull it to hard it wont come apart.

The casual gamer decides what console leads the market, they also decide which console gets which 3rd party software and how much space a console is given in the shops. Nintendos failure to capture the casual gamers attention has ruined 3rd party support and relegated the Gamecube, in the UK, to a tiny portion of game shops and virtually no space in other shops like Dixons (no longer sold).

A day after the remote control is revealed, someone from NoA reveals that a more conventional controller casing will also be released that the remote control can be slotted into. Just give potential customers 24 hours to switch off and dismiss the Revolution before revealing in words, not pictures, that Nintendo have thought about the casual, hardcore and average gamers, not just the Nintendo Fanboys and non-gamers (sic). Mind you, the Nintendo Fanboys would probably buy the Revolution if the controller was a dog turd in a plastic box! Tongue

The non-gamer market is certainly differn't, but does a games console exist for the non-gamer market realistically? And what does that do to the gamers who invest in the console? I will wait and see before I change my signature.
