I just finished watching an anime series called
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. It had been lying in my drawer for three years and I can't believe I didn't watch it earlier. I enjoyed it, even though I'm not into Mechas/weapons/explosions/more explosions stuff at all. I think it's because I was so,
so disappointed after watching Neon Genesis Evangelion!
Most of
Gundam SEED was excellent. It had great opening and ending songs, good art (the people have funny chins

), some character development, plot and good storytelling (except I think I'll smash something if they ever show the Asuran-and-Kira-under-the-cherry-blossoms flashback again! I don't like those two at all!) and unlike so many other anime series, this one was almost completely not perverted... XD
I actually liked some of the characters, which is rare for me! My favourite character by far was the Lieutenant/Commander Muu Ra Furaga(/Mwu/Mu/La/Fraga/Fllaga/etc, AGH!!). He's intelligent, has a great sense of humour, skilled, understanding, good looking... he radiates coolness! To think that his father wanted to disown him because he was "diluted" by having a mother (what a freaky dad!)... well his mother must have been perfect, unlike his dad! That Captain Mariyuu Ramiasu is so lucky ...or unlucky! ... No! Can't believe it!
The ZAFT Commander Rau le Creuset (Raww/Ru/Kuruuze/K... whatever) intrigued me right from the start. He knows so many things and he never took off that freaky mask of his! I wanted to know what his true purpose was, but I was surprised to find out he was like that! What a crazy guy, and it's not his fault at all, really. His 'father' was so so short-sighted. Even I saw this coming!
Second (I think) Lieutenant Nataru Bajiruru also earned my respect at the end (I HATE Murata Azuraeru! DIE!!!), although I didn't like her as much as Mariyuu at the start since she was so set on following orders (coming from such a military family and all), and ... I didn't really care about the children too much, although Sai, Miriaria, Toru, Kazei, Nikkoru, Deakka and even Izaaku were cool enough. They were brave, caring and perfectly believable (I usually dislike extreme personalities).
And the ending ... It was so Kira's fault that Rau shot at Furei! And Rau so would have PWNED him if he wasn't the
perfect perfect co-ordinator! Pfffft! There were a few children who should have died in the end, but they didn't. >_>
Anyway. That's my thoughts (completely unstructured because I just typed it straight out of my mind and I have no essay-writing skills) on Gundam SEED. ^^
So. Go watch if you haven't yet. Hurrah for big RAcasts. Don't ask me to compare it to the other Gundam series (serieses?), because I haven't watched them. I hear that the first Gundam is just about mechas, Gundam SEED Destiny is a lame sequel to SEED set two years later with Asuran and some other child as the main chara's and Gundam Wing is about these five children. Sounds boring, so someone convince me otherwise or something.
...
Did I mention I love Muu Ra Furaga? Yes, I did. XD
