How come PSO is not being sold
#11
I've been playing since the DC days, ever s9ince its release in the US. This is a big step for me, PSO-wise. Maybe if you call them tehy would take someone more seriously, anyone think I should delete my used IP in PSO when I get it tomorrow? for a new one.

Im not saying you wont be able to trade it in/buy a pre-owned copy of PSO anywhere, just shops like GAME/Electronics Boutique (Depending on the knowledge of the person serving you!). It is store policy not to accept games with online serial numbers/access keys because it restricts anyone else from using them, hence why they wont trade in PC games.

You wont find a Pre-owned copy of Phantasy Star Online either at places like GAME/Electronics Boutique because they wont trade them in incase they have been played online before

Hehe, the person who traded it in then didnt know his stuff Tongue

Serial Numbers and Access Keys are NOT registered at all if the person did not play PSO online/registered for a Hunters Liscense account at http://www.playsega.com or http://www.sega.com/pso, etc. Therefore you can still use them, no matter which Gamecube console you play the game on. The serial number isn't dependant on the Gamecube, only the Hunters Liscense account.

A.S. Wrote:Many games are still being sold that lack overall quality (look at any PS game). The graphics are the only bad thing about the game.

I'm looking at several Playstation games... Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, Valkyrie Profile, Legend of Dragoon, Gran Turismo...

I don't see anything wrong with the graphics on the Playstation system. Granted they're not up to par with what kids like on their beloved 128-bit systems. But if you think those graphics lack quality just look at the Playstation's specifications.

I remember when I was playing my old NES and went over to a friend's house to play their Atari 2800 system. Not a huge difference in graphics, not even the SEGA Master System had any significant difference in graphics. Not untill the next generation systems, the Super Nintendo and the Genesis was there any real change with graphics. Even with 16 bit technology video game graphics were simple. Same with the first 64 bit system, the Atari Jaguar, graphics weren't anything to go nuts over.

The first change in graphics from 2D-3D (not including the Jaguar) were on the Saturn, Playstation, and that accursed Nintendo 64. More detail could be acheived, but still nowhere close to today's more complex systems.

In overall graphics performance... the Dreamcast runs circles around the Xbox, so does the GameCube, PSO is a good example of the graphical capabilities of each system.

Hell, I still play my Master System JUST to play Phantasy Star. For me the story and challenge of playing a game far outweighs the sound and graphics.

I don't think PSO an graphical showcase for the console, especially as they are only updated versions of the DC. Soul Calibur was and still is, the graphical showcase of the DC, along with MSR. But that's another discussion altogether.

HMV might still sell it (in England). But as always, online is your best bet. Amazon, play.com, cdwow might sell them. And if not, good old ebay comes to the rescue, although, if you want to play online, ask the seller if they have been online with it. Make sure you keep any emails you get back in case the code doesn't work online and dispute the sale with ebay.

If you do go on ebay to buy a copy, be wary of the seller. Check their feedback and take everything they say with a huge pile of salt. It is very easy to get screwed on ebay.

I can't honestly say if it's available in my area or not anymore. I preordered Plus and picked it up the day of its release... since then I've gotten two others to buy a copy (one ordered it online and got the non-plus).

Lee-yoshi Wrote:You can use PSO on as many Gamecubes as you like, whether you play it online or not. However, once the PSO games Serial Number and Access Key have been registered with SEGA, it cannot be registered again to a different user - although it can be used on another Gamecube.
...wait. This may be a problem for me. I've been online with a friend's account and I've used his serial number and access key. Does this mean I can never go online with my own?? Because I can't find any option to change or reset that... :S
