Phantasy Star Universe for PS2

Looks like it's official, Naka himself said inside EGM that PSU will be for the PS2. I was really hyping up the game too, hopping it would come out for GCN. I don't like Sony, let alone PS2, so I probably will just get the game for PC. Oh well, looks like I'm going to need that High Speed Connection most definetly now. As long as the new Shadow the Hedgehog game comes out for GCN (if I can't have one, I want the other).

What does everyone else think about their decision for bringing it out for the PS2?

Its a dam shame its coming to PS2 initially, but thats not to rule out any other consoles still...

Do you have a copy of EGM? And if so what does it say about the actual game for information? Any new screens?

well, atleast i have a ps2 but id rather play it on the gcn. The buttons are in a more comfortable positoin for me.

Agreed, Fabo. My brother has one of the newer slimmer PS2's, so that's what we'll get PSU on. Unfortunately, I'd also like to play it on GameCube, but if I cannot, PS2 will definitely suffice.

i heard the slimmer ps2 had something missing,like a slot that you could plug in some attachment.

Hehe. Honestly? I'm not too sure what the slimmer PS2 is missing. You'd think I should know, but I don't. tehe. It is a lot smaller though, so it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Lee-Yoshi said it..and I believe its true...It may be annoucned for the PS2 at first,but you never know,it could show up on other systems.Casue I remeber hearing a rumor,awhile back,about when it was realsed for dreacast.[the original pso] that sega was thinking of terminating all US survers,and limiting it to EU survers adn JP survers..now this would have stopped alot of well hated pso players...eg..FiNgAz....but it would have also pissed off so many people,the sales would have bombed...so it just shows,if they try and do something to please one crowd,it could kill the market for all the other groups.

I've heard it'll only be on PS2... I'll have to play it on my brother's PS2 then, but I want it on GC! Why do Sonic Team keep moving consoles?

Well, I look at it this way. If a PSO game is going to hit the GCN or the Revolution then I'd like it to be similar to PSO 1 and 2 - I'm not so interested in an action/adventure game like PSU suggests it could be.

I'm not a big fan of the PS2 despite the fact my kids have one each (and half the time they need them taking away grrrrh arrrgh) however I'm sure this will be a great release for the PS2 owners who came from the Dreamcast. Will the casual gamers who have made the PS and PS2 so huge purchase PSU? Watch the charts from Japan, the US and the UK when the game gets released. If at that point PSU for the PS2 sells well then kudos for SEGA for good business sense. Poor sales on the PS2 and the real losers will be the SEGA shareholders who the release on the PS2 was designed to benefit.

well, perhaps Sony will screw it up and piss off the Japanese fans (highly unlikely ofcourse). I guess we either invest in a ps2 or we watch from the sidelines with hungry, deranged looks waiting for a port to GC .
