Well...I don't know if this is creative or just abstract but it would be interesting if your mag could actually be used as a weapon. You could have a pet command to sick it on enemies. Or even better would be weapons that could merge or combine with your mag to make a hybrid weapon based on which mag you had.
Kisanzi, I believe that is leaning more towards the abstract avenue.
