I got the DS on the day out and played it practically all the time i could during the day... then i finished the games, after about a month. I havent really touched it since. I love the DS over the PSP (i have convinced people to buy a DS , whenthey thought about PSP by just highlighting pros and cons... i tried to be unbiased), but i wish theyd released more games... sorry, i mean more GOOD games. Mario 64 lasted me about a week , although it was still a good as it was on the N64, id played it all before (except for about 5% of slightly changed bits), and therefore i finished it quickly. But this wil not affect all DS owners, and many newer nintendo fans will love Mario 64 from start to finish and spend much longer on it. Ive also played wario ware, which was ace but im not really a person for trying to get high scores. And Pokemon Dash was fairly good... for about 5mins, then i got bored of hearing "PIKA PIKA" screaming out of the speaker and plus my wrist hurt like hell.
The game that ive played the most by far is the free game... Metroid Prime :FH. It is the best game ive played on DS... me and my twin bro' have had many fun death matches (i find the control style perfect, but not that touch screen to fire crap, thats useless), infact it is the only game i have played on DS after i stopped playing the other DS games (ive mainly used it as another GBA to be used while my SP charges up).

I havent played much games on DS... is Touch Kirby good? Ive heard good things about MR driller, and you DS fans appear to love Proj. Rub. Unfortunately ive been short of cash for the last couple of months and so havent been able to purchase new games.

I belive the DS is short on games at the moment, and that Nintendo should have released some more good games, not crap like sprung, possibly an RPG, a game that would last a long time to finish. At least alot of games are coming out around November, and around Christmas... which will definatly put itback in my hands every day.. hopefully.

I dont want to persuade anyone to like a DS, its just the handheld i love.
Ok, the review was not meant to be biased, but unfortunately it was, so I'm putting my little spin on it. Note that I have seen a PSP in action, but never played it, and I love my DS but I will try my hardest to not be biased.

Graphics: Ok, I won't lie. The PSP had better graphics by far, and it shows. However, I think that graphics are the least important part of a game, which is why the DS is not miles behind the PSP in sales. Ah well, I'll stop now Tongue PSP > DS.

PSP: 9/10
DS: 7/10

(That I kept the same)

Games: Now the important bit for a games console, the games! In my opinion, the games the DS has are very varied. From 3D Platform action in Mario 64 DS, to shooting games like Metroid Prime - First Hunt to fun Mini-Games in Wario Ware and Project Rub (which, by the way, is great) to addicting puzzle games like Zoo Keeper and Polarism to racing games like Ridge Racer and Pokémon Dash, there is so much variety! Sure there are a few dodgy games like Sprung, but we'll allow for that. The only real problem is the lack of 3D graphics in games, which makes the DS look worse graphically than it really is. From what I've heard, PSP has mostly sports sims, shooters and racing games, and ports of PS2 titles, i.e. nothing that different, and also games I do not personally like. However, RPG's make up for it. On the whole, not as diverse.

PSP: 7/10
DS: 9/10

Gameplay: This is the part where DS loses out on some points. I don't know why whoever designed the DS thought it was appropriate not to have an analogue stick, but he did. Using the stylus to control 3D games is just awkward, so I opt for using the not-so-accurate D-Pad. However, the stylus is MUCH easier to use in games like Wario Ware and Project Rub, as well as Puzzle games. This may be why Nintendo are producing a lot of these right now, rather than 3D games. PSP on the other hand is easier to control with 3D games, but it eliminates the possibility of Project Rub style games. Overall, pretty even.

PSP: 8/10
DS: 8/10

Special Features: The DS has two screens, a touch screen and voice recognition, whilst the PSP has music and movies. They're actually pretty evenly matched but in my opinion the DS's features help gameplay instead of just adding stuff.
PSP: 8/10
DS: 9/10

(Look, I actually added a point to PSP and kept DS the same. Biased? Never!)

Overall: The PSP has good graphics, but it's just a bit '*yawn* Well what's new?', whilst DS provides something a bit different, and a bit special. Never before have you been able to interact with games in this way, send messages to your friends in your hadwriting or talk to the game. Innovation. That's the key, the word that Nintendo lives by.

PSP: 7/10
DS: 9/10

TOTAL SCORE:

PSP: 7.8/10
DS: 8.4/10

As you can see, there's not much in it, and I hope you find this review fair no matter which you prefer.
i still think you where waaaayyyyy biased in that in the features like gameplay and stuff you talked about like 2 things about the psp then like 7 about the ds
Only because I know more about the DS. Also if you read it you'll notice it's not all good about the DS, e.g. when I said controlling 3D games with the stylus is awkward.
thats y u should only do the ds part and let someone with a psp do the psp partWink
I guess but I'm not organised like that. Besides, you can't say that the original was more biased can you? My scores were less than 0.5 apart.
okie doke people, PSP is better. Why? *takes deep breath*...

1: Plays music
2: plays special psp movies
3: has wide screen
4: has analog
5: can be used to transport hack and modder programs
6: is easily moddable
7: doesn't confuse things with gay stylus
8: will never see a gay pokemon game
9: has analog control
10: will have DECENT final fantasy titles
11: much larger 3rd party support
12: better graphics
13: looks sexier
14: good promise of rpgs, 1st person shooters, racing, sports, and hack and slash
15: has hack and slash
16: Dynasty Warriors (who cares if a 3rd of the screen is a map? its widescreen, people, you have enough screen to see perfectly fine)
17: Standard headphone jack (that's right- STANDARD)
18: uses the sexy UMDs
19: has a badass carrying case
20: has accesories such as a carrying case that recharges battery, adding 9+ hours of gameplay and a cinema station that adds 9+ hours of movie time and speakers
21: will not have any homosexual plumbers on it

bad things? Well, even the gods themselves have some faults. (doesn't need a big breath for this)
1: its made by sony, so it will have faulty models for the first 2 months
2: dead pixels
3: won't have Zelda.
4: ... can't think of anything else.

ok, now lets compare those downsides and upside to those of the DS

advantages:
1: battery life
2: no fear of scratching disc, thus ruining game
3: zelda
4: will have a much higher potential for 1st person shooters (play Metroid Prime: Hunters and you will understand)
5: can play GBA games
6: wireless chat
7: not much else, people- it is made by nintendo

disadvantages (big breath)

1: two screens which can be distracting, thus complication gameplay that need not be complicated
2: pokemon
3: mario
4: gay-ass stylus
5: tiny screens
6: 64-ish crap graphics
7: can't play GB games
8: looks ugly
9: would be embarassing to own
10: can't play movies
11: tiny game chips are easily lost, as they are half the size of a GBA game (as if they weren't small enough)

count those up. An advantage is a point, a disadvantage takes away a point. Who won?
