I'm looking forward to extra mode! Sounds like oodles of fun, being able to run around with your own character, but still join up with Ethan and the gang! I'm gonna get a blast out of this, I'll be stalking my party members in the cities...mwuahaha...I'm watching you Ethan!
Do you have to have him on your extra mode party? I hope not, because then stalking him would be pointless...

Ethan does not appear in Extra Mode, heck you don't even have to have other party members. You can use the partner cards you've gathered in Story Mode if you want to, but I always tend to go it alone myself... more EXP for me. XD S Ranking isn't very hard anyways.

i find most of the time the nocs just steal your kills, your wailing away at the enemy, they smack it twice and it dies to them, and you lose exp >_<
