I know there's pokemon fans out there So the fact that there's soon going to be a new Poke-fest being released on Nintendo DS must have some people excited! W00t!
However, the particular point in making such a thread now is because of this newly released information i've come across concerning how Pokemon Diamond & Pearl takes advantage of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection! What? NO WAI! Yea....
Revo-Europe.com Wrote:New details have emerged regarding the forthcoming Pokemon titles for the Nintendo DS. It turns out that the online aspect will be divided into two 'sections': The Public and the Private section.
Private section is basically you and friend codes. Battle and trade against people you know and have exchanged codes with. Fairly simple, and to be honest, we were expecting this anyway.
However, the public aspect is very, very interesting. This system will not require you to exchange friend codes. There are two systems which feature predominantly in the public aspect: the Trading System and the Battle Tower.
The trading system will allow you to search for a specific pokemon, and it will result in a list of all possible trainers who would be willing to trade you this pokemon...for the right offer, of course. You can make an offer, and the trainer will either accept the offer or decline it. If the trainer isn't online at the moment you make this offer, he or she will be notified about this possible trade the next time they come online. Pretty neat stuff.
The Battle Tower gives you the chance to upload your elite team of Pokemon to a server. You have the ability to download other people's teams of pokemon, ready for battle. However, the downside is that they will be computer controlled, rather than human controlled. Also, you will only be able to download teams that are around your level. Still, a nifty option.
The online features of this title are starting to fit together nicely. The public and private system, the already confirmed private VoIP and the fact that Pokemon is a killer franchise could soon see this game flying off the shelves!
We'll bring you more on this this as soon as we get it.
So you can battle privately using Friend Codes, OR you can fight anyone who plays pokemon with NWC, and they don't even have to be online to do it! AWESOME! Now i can defeat people while i'm asleep too The little trading post thing they've got going on too sounds pretty neato
I will catch 'em all!

| Why do you play PSO? |

From reading a few of the more recent posts and threads, there seems to be a lot of people out there who wish to be the best at PSO. This may be a good goal, but with a game as deceptively broad as PSO it is probably not entirely possible.
PSO, when compared to World of Warcraft or similar, seems very restricted in its scope - the levels are shorter, there is no way near as many quests, there are fewer 'different' things to do within the game. Yet the area where PSO can be huge is in the combination of every aspect of itself, from the weapons to the armours, to the MAGs and even the Symbol Chat icons. There is still scope for personalisation.
I am confused as to why so many people wish to top everyone else on statistics. PSO is not a competition, unless you play Battle mode. It is not an efficiency run unless you play Challenge. PSO is a community, and I think that the best part of the game is that you can express individuality through it.
People like different things. Some people like to play Ep3, some do not. I do, partly due to the play style, and partly due to the sheer variety of the deck creation. In Ep3, I will admit that I am somewhat of an uberist - but only in the Johnny way (see Wizards of the Coast for an explanation!). My favourite decks include hideously inefficient combinations with very good results. My aim at Ep3 is to break some of the cards. Such as my combination of two sub standard cards (Gulgus and Duel Strike, which are more difficult to use on their own) to create an incredible effect - a nearly unblockable instant death effect.
But in Ep1&2, I have changed my tack. There was one time when I wanted to play PSO to be the best, but I realised that there was no way that I'd quickly reach the top, and if I did then there would also be lots of other characters at Lv200. So now, I play my characters with a personal style - and very often that involves equipping sub standard weapons and armour just for aesthetic reasons. I've also decided to raise Bhima's for my characters, just because I've seen so few. Everyone else has a Sato, why should I have one?
Currently, I cannot get online, so I also play PSO to have fun with my friends, and participate in a challenge together. While I am the strongest character, that is irrelevant. I have played the game for longer, so that is to be expected. In fact, I enjoy it when the characters I am playing with are weaker, because it gives me more of a challenge to keep them alive.
And the final reason that I play PSO? Story. I want to finally work out the entire backstory and interlinking aspects of PSO, to find the links to the early PS series and to find the links to PSU when it is released. There's no way that I'll know more about the stats than some people here, but I can specialise on the story.
'But the story is not necessary to the playing of the game?' No, no it is not. However, that is one of my reasons to play the game, so I choose to do it. I read all of Rico's messages. I know them all, but I do it anyway. I might pick up a scrap of information I'd overlooked. Plus, I use it to figure out how far I am through the levels (especially in the ruins).
That is why I play. Reciprocation would be much appreciated.

I've asked around, and no one seems to care much what the letters on the Red weapons mean. The handgun says "i" one of them says "ff" and there are the other ones that I forget right now. Anyone have any idea what they might spell of if it's even in engligh?
When I got a hacked Red Handgun (I was a noob! I didn't know!) I was intrigued by the letters on the handle and now have set out on a quest to find all of the red weapons, decode the letters, and then tell no one of my discoveries unless I really like them. But I need help!
A common myth is that is spells out Flowen, but then why are some of them in ep1? and why is there an "i"? Stupid Appatitians...

Cubed3.com Wrote:Nintendo Rumour | Portable GameCube and Wii Release Confirmed?
IGN publish info, pull it and then 'correct' themselves...
Gaming site IGN have apparently made a rather big error and published information that should have been kept a secret. Last night, the Murdoch owned media giant ran a story on its Wii channel detailing several pieces of juicy information. Whilst it was strictly outlined as rumour, IGN soon pulled the story, only to repost it a few hours later with some rather drastic changes. However, the Internet being the beast that it is, someone over at NeoGAF took a snap of the article before it was changed, highlighting some exciting possibilities.
...
One whole paragraph was removed from the article, it stated the following:
Insiders claim to have seen final hardware. The Broadway CPU is allegedly in the 750 CL line, a continuation of the 750 GX series. IBM may be working on a revised Broadway chip with a lower clock speed for a future Nintendo handheld -- one that presumably plays GameCube discs.
IMAGE: http://www.cubed3.com/media/2006/August/...whoops.jpg
...
So basically, confirmation of a portable GameCube it would seem. The report has to have a fair bit of truth in it or IGN wouldnât have pulled it, clearly the source was worried that the information in that paragraph would unveil their identity and asked for it to be removed. Whatever the case, it provides material for some rampant Internet-style speculation. So donât disappoint, and respond away...
Full Article
How interesting if true! And if true, i guess it means we would also get PSO portable too as everyone is always moaning about! Lol!

| What to do with the S-Needles? :S |

At some point in the not-too-distant future, I'll be trading for a custom S-Rank Needle (I have one person who needs only c1 and c5, still). Before anyone asks, I don't do ep2c because (a) I'm not a glutton for hard things, and (b) I don't generally have the time it takes to whip up a team for it.
Anyway. My three Ultimate-level rangers might be able to use some needle specials, but I can't decide which yet... except for Loaded Die, for whom I will get a Geist Needle. Why Geist? Because she burns a good amount of TP berserking (melee berserking, not gun berserking) and healing, which is a big part of her strategy.
For the others, I can't decide which special goes where. My restrictions are these: - I will not under any circumstances get Berserk on a needle, end of story. It has far too much potential for misuse.
- Same with Demons.
- Zalure MIGHT work, but it depends on the character. Gorgotron (my RAcast) might be able to make use of it, but on Will (RAmar), I'm hesitant; I don't want to make him too powerful, which is the entire reason for my above two restrictions.
- I don't want to use the same special on the same weapon on two characters. I just find that boring.
I'm thinking of using Zalure on Gorgotron if I ever get a third traded needle, but in the meantime I'm trying to decide what to do with the first needle, for Will. So what do we have left if we rule out those big three? Not too much:
Jellen: Not of much use except maybe on Gorgotron when soloing, but I don't want to give up his paralysis power for that.
Hell: I have an S-Rank Blade with Hell and it works a little... I'm sure this would work a lot better in ep2 than in ep1, but I'm wondering how much good it would do me on Will.
Arrest: How much better is unreduced Arrest than unreduced Seize? Enough to justify the S-Rank? Either way, having a "paralysis special" appear from your needle makes it look just like a Spread Needle... so, no.
Spirit: Has just as much potential for misuse as Berserk, really.
Gush: Useless on Will; Gorgotron has his S-Mechs for that.
Geist: Planning to use it on Loaded Die, so this one is out.
Kings: I've considered this one, but Will wouldn't be able to make as much use of it as Gorgotron could (I think...)
Burning: 99% useless.
Tempest: 98% useless (for shock value).
Blizzard: Actually, I've considered this. It's essentially the same as Arrest, right? Since they both have to do with the enemy's ESP. On the other hand, this might not freeze the enemy as long and there's no potential for "re-stunning" while the enemy is in the ice. Still, it's a bit tempting to get this for style reasons.
HP/TP recovery: It's really slow, isn't it? Either way, boring.
So at the moment, it's a toss-up between Hell, Kings, or Blizzard... or Zalure (if I were to choose something else for Gorgotron, but this is unlikely).
Any opinions from someone who's used these specials on an S-Rank before (or else understands what they could do)? (don't tell me all of you are addicted to zerk S-Ranks ;[ )
