  Found my Dreamcast
Posted by: Bowie - 15-09-2016, 10:48 AM - Forum: Gaming - Replies (1)

Hi,

I was cleaning out my attic the other day and came across my old Dreamcast - easily the most under-rated console. I was gutted when they stopped production so earlier. It beat the Playstation hands down in my opinion. Anyway, unfortunately I had the console but no games for it. I found a good website to buy second-hand Dreamcast games. I also found this forum while searching for game discs.

I’m definitely going to buy Jetset Radio, Powerstone and Shenmue.

What else do you think I should get? It’s been ages since I played the Dreamcast and can’t remember all the games that were out for it. What were your favourite games? (aside from Phantasy Star Online obviously).

This game comes out next week for the WiiU. It looks very PSO like and has 4 player co-op. Is anyone looking at getting this game?

YouTube video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YEhVPZjgMk

If anyone wants to play add my NNID: Uaedaien.

  Phantasy Star Online Wallpaper
Posted by: K_I_R_E_E_K - 12-10-2015, 07:20 PM - Forum: Fanworks - Replies (2)

A long time a go i did a Wallpaper for Ragol.co.uk, it had a grid, it contained ending images and screenshots from several members there, it was a rather basic wallpaper on a rather small resolution, but at the time i liked the outcome.
Recently i decided to improve on that concept and made a bigger wallpaper with more frames for images, this time however i didn’t use screenshots with charathers in them, I decided to use the screenshots i have taken in PSO BB without the hud or my charathers.

This wallpaper contains:

– 1 image from an old PSO Wallpaper with the iconic explosion in Ragol.
– 12 images from the Misc ending in PSO v2. – 12 images from the Normal ending.
– 3 images from Ultimate ending. (Red Ring Rico related)
– 3 images taken from the animations that play in the Ending in the GC version of PSO (the normal and ultimate)
– 60 screenshot images taken by me.

I must admit this took some time and at the end i was scavenging screenshots for something good and appealing, so while you may recognize the majority of the images, there might be some that weren’t uploaded on my deviant art, if you wish said pictures in their respective full sizes then leave a comment with the request, for all the other images you can just check my deviant art, i believe you may find them.

Yes, the images here are small but that is somehow intended so that both Sega images and my images share the same quality, the ending images by default are small and don’t really have that much of a quality standard (it wasn’t the purpose of the image anyway), my images were by default around 1600×1200 with exceptional graphical quality, so here they kinda lost a lot of detail.
I’ll consider this my final PSO wallpaper i guess since it has a collection of many screenshots i took, enjoy.

  Finally getting around to PSO2!
Posted by: Lee-yoshi - 23-01-2014, 10:46 PM - Forum: Lobby - Replies (9)

Hey guys, wow it's been a long time since anything has happened here. Thanks SEGA for finally getting around to publishing that once promised English version of Phantasy Star Online 2! *cough*

So does anyone here who's still checking this place (Or stumbled across it again for memory sakes) still play PSO2? The Japanese release I'm talking about - Because it's the only version there is!

I've finally decided to get my arse in gear and try it out. Installing it is proving tough enough, but when I finally get there, is anyone else still on it?

Obviously to install it I've got several guides (Not to mention K_I_R_E_E_K's of course - Here). I'll let you know when I get this b*****d working!

Also, any top PSO2 tips for a (I can't believe I'm even saying this...) newbie? :O

PSO V2 High Res / Widescreen (demo)
Posted by: K_I_R_E_E_K - 16-08-2013, 01:52 PM - Forum: Lobby - Replies (1)

The following exe files allow you to play PSO v2 (pc) in a higher resolution, this is a demo version so you can feel and see what is wrong and what is right, this is not definitive work and was made merely to demonstrate the concept.

This began a long time ago, but i never went very far, eventually i asked at eden on how to approach this, i gave the 1st step rather quickly, but i was unable to keep going and so i asked for help at a community that does this on a daily basis, i came across someone who doesn't seem to be a PSO player, but he knew more about widescreen than i ever imagined, in a short amount of time i saw the game in widescreen and in a higher res.

From the very basic demo, i took plenty of screenshots of pso v2 that exceed the quality in PSO BB, here's a comparison between the regular PSO v2 and one in 16:10 at 1680x1050

Exe info:
- I do not believe they have other patches other than window mode or no window mode, meaning this works like the default pso.exe
- No server ip (cannot connect online)
- No mouse support

Instructions:
Before proceeding, backup pso.exe located in
X:\xxxxxxxxxx\SEGA\PhantasyStarOnline

To play a higher resolution version of PSO v2, navigate the folders, 1st set of folders you decide which Operating System you have, 2nd set of folders will decide window mode or fullscreen.
Window mode even in an unsupported resolution may work, but i can't garantee that this will happen on all cases.
3rd set of folders decides aspect ratio and the final one will decide the resolution.
I know there are more aspect ratios and resolutions, but again, this is a demo, please use what is available

Once you reached the final folder you will find a single file named "pso.exe" simply drag and drop the file into the location of your pso.exe
X:\xxxxxxxxx\SEGA\PhantasyStarOnline

Known issues:
- Background images do not stretch/scale and are off-center
- User interface does not stretch/scale and is off-center
- Main menu in-game does not display black background (not really an issue)
- Area Map uses the entire screen
- Particles, techs, damage values do not scale and are off-center
- player arrow and map are zoomed in

Other info:
- If you plan on connecting online, please use ip patch and insert the ip, by default these exe files do not connect to any server (reason: being neutral)
- Patches are possible, maybe in the future when more alterations are in place, this way is simple but requires multiple exe files, the more the resolutions and the more the support, the higher the number of exe files required to satisfy the players.
- Yes, there is a version that is more advanced then the ones available here, particles scale and are centered, but only for 1 resolution, i do not know how to change that.....yet

Credits:
- SEGA for making the game
- jackfuste for the widescreen
- K_I_R_E_E_K for making several resolutions available

Special thanks:
- Tofuman for the hints before i contacted jackfuste
- Aurelli for testing Windows 7 compatibility
