Sorry...yes I do need sedating.

I just love the game that much. Also I think I drank a whole 12-pack of Coke that day...

I believe one of the reasons it is so rare was that it was only ever released in large quantities in Japan and the US. Only a few made it over the UK and they didn't sell well so Nintendo stopped the sale. Any Earthbound you can find nowadays is likely to be a US version. I've never played it but it sounds like it might be a good original game, even if it is set in a world not-so-far away. Btw whats with everyone hating Ness on Super Smash Bros.? He can pretty much rule ass if you practice

Nope. Earthbound Zero, or Mother 1 in Japan, was only released in Japan. Then came Mother 2, Earthbound in North America and UK. This game was mainly so rare becasue after Nintendo didn't sell very many copies(even in North America)they simply stopped shipping the game. Of course, the fact that their slogan for the game was "This game Stinks" i probably the main reason people didn't buy it. The reason for that slogan is...well, put it this way, one of the bosses is Master Belch who later becomes Master Barf. Anyway, if you want to learn more about this fantastic game, go here:
