And the lifespan begins to fade...
#1
I just recently fulfilled my desire to play Resident Evil 4 three times over and I was curious to see what else there is to look forward to on the GC. I searched the release list to find that the game releases from here on are far and few. The only titles that caught my eye were Advance Wars, Geist, Fire Emblem, Killer 7 and the new Zelda. And all of these titles are scheduled for releases after May and deep into August. This saddens me and makes me have to admit that the GC is finally starting to slow and fade. It's had an awesome run and some excellent games, but now it appears that it will all be over by this October.

I'm pretty depressed about this and was curious to know anyone else's thoughts and opinions on the matter.

I still expect a strong christmas line-up to be announced for 2005. Ninty still has a lot under its sleeves, and if Ninty insiders are to be believed, we've still also got this Mario 128 to come :S

For the rest of the year though, like you've said, games such as Killer7, GEIST, and the new Legend of Zelda title should see the light of day before new years, aswell as StarFox 2: Assault, Donkey Konga 2 & 3, and a few more.

Agreed the years line-up isnt as big as we all hope, but the year will always go quiet at this time because everyones saving up for huge announcements at E3. Let that event tell us if the Gamecubes fading away or not i say, because it was last years E3 that showed us many of the games being released the few months after, the following christmas, and so forth.

I realize that they may have some titles stashed away for E3, but I still fear for the GC's release list. Sony has a big list of solid games planned for this year and XBOX, well...nevermind...no threat there Tongue . I'm just bothered that I'll have to go back to my PS2 for such a long time before another hit game comes out for the GC. Well, I've got my DS too, so I guess it's not so bad. But it's still a 2-3 month wait for the big wave of games to hit for that as well. It seems that Nintendo is making us wait for something, but I couldn't imagine what else they could have lined up.

Well lets be honest. The Gamecube has been around for a couple of years now, and it hasnt taken off aswell as anyone could have hoped, mainly because it hasnt got the kind of support the PlayStation2 has. The best hope Nintendo has got is a release of games from its closest relations, such as Namco, SEGA, EA, etc. alongside its constantly improving first-party release schedule, while the PS2 has the support of the many other independant developers aswell because the PS2 is the only console its likely to make profits from. You cant expect loads from Nintendo for the Gamecube when Microsoft, the company whos had its Xbox out for about the same amount of time, is planning to release their next console this year!!

I know how you feel Kisa.

This time last year, I was clamouring about Tales of Symphonia and Baten Kaitos. I had finished skies of arcadia, which had nearly all of the things I want in an RPG. A fun battle system. Complex characters. Great locations. An absorbing plot. Lots of secrets. A huge fantasy planet to fool around in. And I was thinking, what's next? Then not one, but two rpgs were announced. And I was like wow! Two new rpgs just for us! Not ports from dead consoles, or almost rpgs like FFCC or Lost Kingdoms, but two sparkly dazzly ones! And I was pretty happy. When I finally got Tales, after a year and a bit of brooding over screenshots, I was dancing around the room, screeching like a maniac. Then after I finished it, I started feeling sad. After Tales, we have baten kaitos, then what RPGs do we get? None?
I looked through the release dates, and I found myself becoming interested in only PSU (which may not even come out on cube) and Zelda. After Baten, there will be no more RPGs which will be as fun as Skies and Tales.

Anyway......maybe a third party developer will leap in and save the day!
