Attack accuracy, ATA; hit percentages
#5
*Pulls out calculator*

But after -45%, the value outside the brackets should then become
(100-45)% x 286 = 157.3
You're not being clear where the other 70ish or so come from. Please clarify.

What IS the marked hit %? If a weapon says 45% hit, it most certainly doesn't mean that it only hits 45% of the time! Then weapons with 0% would never hit.

I presume you would have an overall true hit percentage calculated for you, but not displayed for you.

Restatement of the question in a more mathematical way:

(Relating to physical attacks only)
Your true hit percentage has to be a function of the weapon's marked hit % (e.g. 45%) and your ATA (base+weapon ATA bonus).

i.e. TrueHit%(Hit%, ATA)

It doesn't seem to be a straightforward addition either, because if your TrueHit% is already high (maybe boosted by your ATA), e.g. 60%, and then you equip your weapon with +45%, that would give over 100% which is also not right!

And just stick to normal attacks for the time being as not to overcomplicate things.

Anyone know?
