Well duh, all forms of FSOD are FSOD so it's bound to be the most common. You don't seem to understand there is no bullet proof counter to FSOD, there are so many ways for a hacker or even just a player to initiate one a single code to disable them all would be like 30 lines long. For instance, if you pull off a technique in pioneer 2, that FSODs everyone, thats called kamikazi FSOD I think. (lucky not everyone can pull that off on pioneer 2!). Then there is Word Select FSOD that anyone can do to trap you as you enter a lobby or game.

I would say that duping is okay only because of the fact that had I not corrupted 3 times by now I would still have most of my weapons and about 8 more lvl 200 mags.

Yes I lost over 5-6 Elysions at one point from one case of FSOD that they fudgers kept doing in the lobbies. If you're wondering why I had that many, I had just been trading........

no, definitely not.
if youre too stupid to bank your precious rares before leaving a game, if youre too stupid to equip a 12 star before you warp, if youre too bad of a player that you cant play with a rare and a few expendables (like 50h charge vulcans), if you think shop rares are bad weapons then its your own fault when you lose a rare to an fsod. everyone and their dog knows that fsod exists. its just a matter of 1 to 5 seconds to prepare for that scenario.

rena-ko Wrote:if youre too stupid to bank your precious rares before leaving a game,Sometimes you don't get that option, but even when you do, it takes time and makes unneccesary saving to your memcard... rena-ko Wrote:if youre too stupid to equip a 12 star before you warp,And what if you have more than one 11-star... or 12-star... rena-ko Wrote:if youre too bad of a player that you cant play with a rare and a few expendables (like 50h charge vulcans),50 hit charge vulcan isn't exactly "expendable..." and it's not about how good you are, it's about the time you spent hunting the weps you have... rena-ko Wrote:if you think shop rares are bad weaponsDepends on the level. If you're high-leveled there's no real reason to use shop weapons if you can find better... rena-ko Wrote:then its your own fault when you lose a rare to an fsod.FSOD is never anyone's fault, and you're not taking random FSOD into account either. I've been random FSODed and it's only thanks to my backups that I still have my weps. I would have lost a Frozen Shooter with 35 hit, a Red Saber, a Red Mechgun I hunted for way too long, a Twin Brand, and a Red Scorpio, all with full grinds. I think it's best to put what I've already said to someone else, in PM form (who I'm not sure now if they ever read it or not): Here's an analogy. We all have computers, and sometimes they don't work right. In fact, with every site you visit, there's a chance you'll get slammed with a virus or spyware (even if you have anti-spyware software, no software is perfect). But when you get a virus or spyware that makes your computer run like molasses, what do you do? Hey, it's a risk you took for going out on the internet. But that doesn't mean you say "oops, guess I have to take the hit." No, you (hopefully!) have anti-virus and spyware software to clean up your computer and restore any damaged files. There is zero difference between this and duping items for FSOD backup purposes. FSOD can happen randomly, and it's a risk you take... but that doesn't mean we all have to put up with it. My point in all this is to be functionally legit... by that I mean, play with one copy of an item that you found, at one time, and no more. Not a single stat point or gameplay feature is gained or lost (unlike "FOcasts" with 100-hit BKBs, level 30 Megid and level 1308 mags). Functionally, nothing has changed. The only difference is that, when you're struck by a bug that wasn't your fault in the first place, then you can make sure that nothing changes; afterwards, you can have the same items you used to have, as if the bug never happened. In short, no one gains or loses ANYTHING, no harm is done to ANY party, and so there's no sane reason to shoot yourself in the foot by letting your items die. And a last word to those who consider themselves on a higher moral level than those who make backups because they decide to take the hit: you guys aren't proving anything by being elitist-legits, because everyone who ISN'T and elitist-legit doesn't care. ¬_¬

Well said, well said indeed. That is exactly how I feel. All eight or so of my FSOD's have happened offline and were completely random. Twice my sister turned off the gamecube while it was saving, once my dad, and the other times it just randomly froze while it was saving (it wasn't because I have a non-official GC memory card, just happened). Why should I lose all of the work that I have put into the game just because something random happens that isn't my fault? Why should I lose it all and have to start over?

Anit-Hacker, I know there is no surefire way to stop FSOD, but I was just saying that the chance of losing your items while playing on plus decreases.
