Do you think Duping is ok to make backup weapons?
#21
Actually what PSO Plus fixes is the double save, but it still does double save if you join a game. Having no double save in most cases DOES help prevent lobby-reload FSODX (corruption done by hackers) because, IIRC, the FSOD strikes during the second save. Having plus does nothing to stop FSOD, however.

I also think that if you have AR or know someone who does, recreating a FSOD-lost item is legit if you give it the same attributes as before. This is why I take pictures of all new weapons I get (untekked if possible); I have plus, so I can't dupe until I borrow a non-plus copy or ask a trusted friend to dupe for me (that's another thing, I would NEVER ask a known illegit to dupe an item for me). So during that time my new weapons are vulnerable. However, I know someone who does "hackback" services as long as you provide proof of former ownership, so I take pictures.

Finally, if you recieve a hacked item that's identical to one you lost, IMO you can keep it, treating it as a 1:1 event. Or if you have an identical item you could treat it just like you do any backup (remember that illegits with ARs could just as easily hack an identical weapon, so it's no loss to them). The attributes have to be identical, though; no accepting a wep with better percents, or even lesser percents IMO (one illegit offered me a Yamigarasu with two -5 percents, but I didn't take it as a backup because mine was percentless). Example: I know someone who lost a percentless Red Saber to FSOD. A week or so later, we found in a stack of illegit items a red saber, also percentless but fully grinded. As I figured, if the guy throws away 78 grinders, nothing gained, and nothing lost in the end.

It's not likely you will recieve an item that is Identical but I guess I would have to agree, but would you remember the attributes? Only if they were good!

I dunno, I tend to remember the percents on my weapons. I could probably tell you all my duped weapon's percents off the top of my head if I had to. Tongue *shrug*

quit the whining, kid.

it takes what, maybe a couple dozen tries to get 50h charge vulcans at the shop. the same applies to any other yellow-photon 5h charge weapon. and any sane person would surely buy a couple of them at once.
honestly, i dont see what else you would need to kill everything in pso online from the level 130 on. oh, one thing maybe, you will need skill to do so.

rares are just fancy eyecandy so that you have something to hunt and something to be proud of if it actually drops. noone's forcing you to carry all your precious findings around all the time.

i for my part carry one rare equipped and according to what kind of weapon this rare is, i compensate for example an srank sword on my huct (the rarity doesnt lie in the sword itself, but in the grinders and photondrops used on it) with the charge vulcs mentioned above. and honestly, i dont see what other weapontypes a huct would need.
now if i decide on putting my precious rainbow baton out of the bank for a change, i have the baton equipped during warps or when leaving to the lobby and carry the vulcs and a charge sword or partisan around.
now really, fsod is known since the first week of v3 (that means ep1-2). its by no way a surprise anymore.

It's still a surprise when it happens randomly. You can take every possible precaution, but still lose items to a random FSOD. Also, suggesting that people should be responsible for their own hacker-induced FSODs is very insulting; it's like saying a kid who fell down a hole shouldn't be saved from it just because he shouldn't have been playing around the hole. A lot of people, particularly new people don't even know to stay away from the unusually crowded US block (currently Altair 8), and go there simply because it seems popular. They're newbies, yes, but you can't expect them to be punished for naivete. FSOD is never anyone's fault except the FSODer, in the cases where an FSODer applies.

And I carry seven weapons on each character, thank you very much. I'll take my variety. This game gets very monotonous, IMO, when you use only one or two weapons. I don't usually carry two of the same type of weapon; rather, I usually carry 7 different types of weapon (reliable melee, gun, style melee, multi-hit melee, a couple others... that's the basic hunter set I use, for example). There's no reason not to; the answer to "why" is simply "why not?". I don't usually pick up items besides grinders, mats and the occasional PD or rare, and I usually have at least 7 or 8 spots in my item pack for this stuff.

So no, no one's forcing me to carry all my rares around. I carry them by choice, and I back them up by choice so I won't have to waste unnecessary time and wear on my memory card by depositing them after the game and taking them out again.

My vote: Yes.

My big bro has played PSO Since the Dreamcast dayz. He was 100% legit, even on the Gamecube version. BUT! He got me to dupe his items for him.

You get FSOD, BSOD, and LSOD and lose your unequipped items. Why not dupe them so you don't lose the items you worked so hard to find? FSOD, BSOD, and LSOD don't have to be caused by a hacker...Sometimes the server glitches up...Too many people in the lobby etc. So you can get FSOD/BSOD/LSOD even if there aren't any hackers online.

How many you dupe is up to you...But my big bro made a point. YOU found the items legit. YOU yourself found them. They get lost in FSOD/BSOD/LSOD and you can't help it. But you CAN dupe and have copies just in case.

Duping already hacked items would make you unlegit...Duping items YOU found, (like 1 or 2 not like...44 of the item), would just make you secure.

....Just my thoughts on the matter....

Yes it is. Because you're not getting any benefit from it (as long as you don't trade them to keep a rare and gain another). Others who fail to prepare just putting themselves at a disadvantage.

i'm against it, i see why people make copies to protect thier stuff, but i'd never do it.

back in the wonderful days when i was online i lost loads of rares because i kept taking them with me everywhere (most notably a lavis blade and a yamigarasu) but i learnt from that and towards the end of my online days i only lost a couple of crappier rares.
Apologies to my fellow ragol.co.uk Teammates, i'm sorry for leaving you leaderless, and even more so for not getting back. but i wish you the best of luck in my absence! i miss you all!

It's a rather sad situation when people feel forced to do it because they think they might lose their rares or whatever, but if they have to do it and do it for no other benefit than to have a backup, then it is absolutely fine in my opinion.
