Error 102?
#11
I'll look into it later, I can't now, and won't be able to until tomorrow I think.

If you have a network bridge on your computer, that might be it.

I have not read the topic, just your PM (really in a hurry), so hmm, how are you connected ? ICS ? HUB ? Router ?

102 means your settings are not valid, I had that a lot at one point, so I may be able to help.

Add me to your MSNM contact list if you have it.

Also what's your OS ?

It's probably the primary DNS on the PSO network configuration that is off.

Thanks, I really appreciate it! ^_^

I have no network bridges.

I'm using Internet Connection Sharing via a Local Area Connection on my computer.

Just to clarify:

USB ADSL Modem - plugs into back of computer via USB
- plugs into phone line in wall

RJ45 Crossover Ethernet Cable - plugs into Broadband Adapter in Gamecube
- plugs into back of computer

Local Area Connection Enabled on PC.

Operating System - Windows XP (Service Pack 2). DHCP is not enabled for either the Broadband Modem or the Ethernet (I have no idea how to enable them)...so I can't use the automatic settings, as all I get is 'failed to request IP from DHCP' or something like that.

For my Proxy Server Address, I'm using the same code as my IP address (which is also the same as my Default Gateway). For my Proxy Port Number, I'm using 8080, which I've allowed my Firewall to let things through with.

When I go to ipconfig/all, I get two sets of data (see my opening to this thread). Which data do I use?

As far as I can see there's nothing wrong with my cable as the computer does recognise it. I'm using the same setup as my friend, only his works and mine doesn't. He doesn't understand why it doesn't work either. Sad

Thanks for your time. Big Grin

right, not sure which of these just did it but...

after having the same problem as above with the 102 message, i went on a click everything spree (yes im kinda dumb and dont know much about PCs Smile )

the things i did i think are as follows

updated driver for network card
remade shared connection (had already set that up, i repeated what i did before)
remade local network settings (again, already had them set up i just went over them again)
downloaded the recent updates for windowsXP (hadnt done it in long time)
turned off all messenger service (icq, msn etc)
turned on anti vir (had it off untill today)

now when i connect, it connects to net, i get a little *network cable unplugged* flashes on my pc screen for a secound or two, then gamecube connects ok.

i do however see the error 102 message briefly flash when i enter the game but i can still connect ok and play.

When the GC connects it does a little reset of the BB adaptor. Maybe this is confusing your PC and rejecting the connection. Then allowing it?

I'm not sure, just throwing out ideas. At least it works?

Thats strange, i would have thought if anything, you would have had too turn off your anti-virus software because it'd block the connection. Normally re-adjusting the settings will work, although i dont know why, it just does. Thats lame technology Tongue
