It can with Feather Rest, which is one of the moves drawbacks. 50% HP recovery, lose your flying bonus: Which means you can be hit with EQ.

Feather rest keeps Skarm in the game for sure. It's about move prediction. And it only takes away your ground resistance for that turn. So if you don't swap your mon's on the switch, then you have to deal with something that could potentially destroy you. Lanturn is a good example, even though most standard everything comes with EQ. It's about prediction. If someone is stupid enough to send something that you can prevent against, and you're low on HP, use it to your advantage.
Feather rest is a risk, but is a one round move that restores half of your total HP. If you make sure you have an odd number HP, then you can restore half, and all damage rounds down. Usually to an even number. You could survive to use EQ or something else for one more turn.

Well, let's look at the types resistant to EQ: Water, Steel (Pure steels), Dark, Dragon, Flying, Ghost (Gengar N/A because of poison), Grass, Bug,...I think that's it. Now let's look at the contender's that can do serious damage to you...
Skarmory, Mence/Dragonite/ Houndoom-Umbreon (Toxi-Trappers )/ Mawhile/ Emperuto/ Starmie/ Wailord/ Misdreavus and it's evolution/ Dusclops and it's evolution/ ect. Now you have type coverage due to fire on a few of those.
But an attack from Mence with Rock Slide and you're toast. The reason for Feather Rest instead of EQ has to do with Berries. If you give your Charizard a Salac Berry, it takes damage, to half HP or less it'll get the 1.5X speed boost. Guarenteed to give you the first move, you can attack again, or FR, and heal up. Taking another attack maybe surviving, maybe not. This will be used almost exclusively with Bellyzard. Belly Drumming Charizard uses Belly Drum, gets the speed boosts, fully heals, then has maxed attack and a full health bar while keeping the speed boost. but you see the implications.

I seem to like having all my pokemon as different types, to throw off the people i fight. Also I try to have as many different types of moves on the pokemon. (I.e My Swampert which I migrated from emerald) Has EQ, Ice Beam Rollout and of course, Surf. I have Ampy, Metagross, Empoleon, Glalie, Alakazam and... I dunno, Maybe Salamence.
Anyway D/P, great pokemon game best yet Pokemon league was actually very hard on my first time through and was surprised by the levels on the pokemon there. The only higher one I can think of is Fire Red (Mk2 as I call it). Not as linear (Not complaining there ) and it has a good storyline.

sorry if i misspelled ne i dont play much The legendary "Regigigas" is severely over-rated. I can take on Legendaries really, very easily...
Ice on Dragon takes out half of the Legendaries. And what works better than a Water/Steel type for Heatram/Regigigas (Because no doubt it has Crush claw ) and will Hydro Cannon if necessary. The rarer ones like I said, are over-rated although there is one... CALLED LUGIA
