*ahem* Xbox is graphically beter than all concoles at the present time and it doesn't have the best sales, out of this generation consoles (GC, Xbox, PS2) out of Peak (notice the peak, it's important) graphics, power, etc. the Xbox is best,and the PS2 ids worst, and the GC is in the middle yay,

what i have never understood though, is how the graphics on the consoles seem to get better as the sconsoles get older, for example could they produce a game with the graphics as gd as those in the new zelda when it was lanched? no, yet they can now, and why save the best for last when it's just about to go, I mean it (sorry if my spellings really wrong) has never worked in the past: SA2never saved thew DC, Nights on the saturn never saved it, true they're amazing games, but they never really helpd too much.
So what you're saying is that the Nintendo Revolution will sell the best because it's got the worst graphical power? Haha, i'm just kidding around Tongue

Although to answer your last point i've quoted there, Gamer.tv answered this question very easily in the last episode i saw of the program i think.

When consoles are first released, games developers don't have the understanding of the console and it's spec's, and can therefore only produce games to the limitations they know. As technology advances, so do the development tools developers can work with so they work to a higher standard that's more compatable with the systems full capabilities. By now, development tools are actually better then the systems so developers can go nuts, then maybe take out certain area's and tone down other bits so they still work perfectly on the system, while still pushing the console to it's limits. I'm sure that newer games have a harder time running on the same consoles now then older games do for the same system.

When the next generation consoles are released, the graphics chip's and processor's etc. are so highly technical, that once again, they will easily cope with launch title's, aswell as games for the first few years, because the development tool's arent to the standard of the systems yet. Only into a systems lifespan will the true power of the consoles be unlocked!
PS3 will sell the best because its made by a generic company that people respect (more people know of sony then nintendo). Its sad but true, casual gamers who just love their vice city and halo are taking over and they dont care if games are just graphically better cheap re makes, they'll go with labels and whats 'cool'. I can see it now:

"Duuuhhhh, I have a TV and cam-recorder made by that sony so I'd better get a PS3 cos my other stuff is robust enough and isnt broken....yet :O"

Also the PSP is starting to take the DS' market, gaming history doesnt make a company respected anymore it seems. Sega tripped up already, and although they made some mistakes it wont be long before nintendo dies out to, the age of the godfathers of gaming is drawing to a close. I'd like it if nintendo could continue in the old way of making fewer consoles/games but of better quality but the age of mass production is now at hand, soo... Halo anyone? Wink
Lets face it guys and gals, great graphics do not sell a machine.Marketing etc does.Sony proved with playstation one that you do not need good graphics to sell a machine. PS1 became market leader because it was the sony name that attracted a huge influx of non-gamers to the market,only due to the sony name.Everyone knew the sony walkman, tv's videos etc etc, Nintendo not making these devices, so sony was already a household name.

If price rumours are to be trusted then PS3 will be way too expensive for mr and mrs person to buy said game machine for little johnny you see. only spoilt brats will get PS3 from their parents.Also anyone who understands what the cell chip really is and does will also understand that its not what its actually cracked up to be. Yes peak power figures are truely impressive but as for actual power, we will see. The cell is NOT a video game console chip ok. Its a jack of all trades master of none chip, whereas the cpu that will live inside revolution is specifically designed as a video game chip.

The PS3 is not a next gen console IMO, it is this gen with better graphics(due mainly to the gpu) no innovation at all im afraid.

Sadly it seems most people now want to play games these days filled with pre-rendered waxwork dummies as characters so go and buy the PS3 or X360 and enjoy your mannequins. Yet again the only VIDEO GAME company going next gen is Nintendo.

History will prove me right(apologies for the arrogance) Tongue

GC is slightly behind the xbox in performance, not halfway!

and think about it SS- at the start, they have crap technology, and as the technology gets better they can make better games for the consoles, until the technology gets so good they can make a new console, and this new console will need good technology games to run on it, so they make them using the old technology, then the technology gets better, and they make good games, then it gets so good they can make another console, etc. etc. they dont WANT to realese these amazing games right at the end of a consoles life time, because that will decrease the sales they could make as the old consoles break, but thay have to, unless, that is, you want the DC just to have been released with all the pwnageing games on it at the start, and the GC to have been modeled and ready to be made, but theyre just waiting for the awesome games to come out for it before they release it. theyre not going to do that! itll take them back about 5 years, if they did that teres no way we'd see the next gen consoles for at least 2 years after their proposed launch date. the companies arent trying to save the consoles when they make the gd games, theyre trying to sell the games!
From engadget these appear to be a fairly good look at genuine(ish) revolution specs:

* a multithreaded PowerPC 2.5 GHz with 256 KB L1 cache and 1 MB of L2 cache

* a Physical Processing Chip (PPU) with 32MB of dedicated RAM, 512MB of system RAM

* a custom ATI “RN520” 600MHz CPU with 256MB of RAM

* the device will support external resolutions up to 2048 x 1268

* HD support is still as yet undecided

* 7.1 surround

If these are anywhere near true then revolution will give X360 a damn good close run for its money. All for a rumoured 150gbp launch price. Gib :O
Heh, yea Nintendo are always hell on value for money. The price is nothing compared to what you're getting! I don't understand why they insist on giving their consoles away, but i'm certainly not complaining! Smile

I would seriously expect the system specs to be better then what you've quoted above though Arrogantelf, otherwise they will be behind in the future. Ninty have said that their consoles performance will still be very similiar to that of any of the other next gen competitiors, so i look forward to seeing the statement come to light whenever they'll be giving these specs out next year (Well they won't do it this year will they!).
Yes Lee-yoshi i agree, the price of a Revolution is cheap and should entice new people to it as well.

As far as specs go, don't be surprised if those specs i quoted are nearer the truth than you think.Nintendo's real trick is in the way the hardware works(mode 7 on snes drool-3mhz cpu?????).

The x360 and ps3 are multi-media machines whereas Revolution will be a dedicated console(except for the dvd add-on-pointless imo as argos do a proper dvd player for 30gpb), so, a fair chunk of the cpu in x360/ps3 will go on multimedia content, not leving the true full power of the chip for games. Trust me the Revolution will rock a few people in 2006 and beyond. Big Grin
The only real reason Nintendo have whacked on a DVD Playback accessory is because at the time the Gamecube was being sold, many immediately went for PlayStation because it was the cheapest with the most features, such as DVD/CD/VCD playback, and those kinda features attract other people to the machines. If it doesn't have it this time around, people would have really slated the company with its 'THIS IS A GAMES MACHINE NOT A CD PLAYER!' attitude. To me though, i'm always won over by dedication to games. I've got my PC for music and films... well actually i'm quite happy it's got the feature now as it means i can watch them on my tv now come to think of it ^_^

Still Nintendo concentrate on the games, that's what they're about - the DVD thing is a one-time accessory and once it's made it doesn't get updated or anything because it doesn't need to be. Microsoft though have really gone insane though with their entertainment center. All this Windows Media Center PC/Xbox hook-up, wi-fi, connectivity, etc etc, i've lost track of all of that's going on there :S
heh. 350 on a cd/dvd player and consloe.

150 pounds for consloe and 10 pound dvd player in asda/walmark
i know what i would go forTongue
well look statistically nintendo is ranked third it said at this funny japanese games show when i saw the controller being relaesed and it said nintendo are ranked 3rd in the gameing world and no matter what new things they add to it it is not likely to change because of the favoutieism unless the rev is LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAADDDDDDS better nintendo are pretty screwed

i don't care though i am going to buy a rev still purely because i love the nintendo games and the styl of game play
